The SENS Research Foundation (SRF) is a non-profit organization involved in the anti-aging research. The foundation has announced on its website that it has received a donation of 2.4 million dollars in ether coins from the founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin.
The SRF was founded in 2009 by Aubrey de Grey, a gerontologist who started researching the ways to make people younger, hoping to allow people to live a lot longer than before.
Buterin said he was a big fan of Aubrey’s work, ever since he read his book called “Ending Aging” as a teenager: “I am happy and blessed to personally support the efforts of the SENS Research Foundation. Their focus to create a solution for the aging process, one of the biggest problems that the humanity is facing, is to a large extent consistent with my goal to positively affect millions of people around the world.”
The SENS Foundation already received two large donations worth two million dollars in bitcoins. Both donations were made by the Pineapple Fund, the first million dollars came in December last year, while the second million dollars in bitcoins were donated at the beginning of this month, on February 2nd.
